Metlab
has furnaces ranging in size from 2' in diameter by 3' long to
15' in diameter by 16' long. Included are bell type, atmosphere furnaces
and pit retort furnaces for nitriding, carburizing, carbonitriding,
boriding, neutral atmosphere hardening, annealing, black oxide treatment,
and other processes. Metlab offers brazing (vacuum and atmosphere) and
metal finishing services. Parts up to 43,000 pounds in weight have been
processed by Metlab. Long slender parts, like feed screws, tubing and
bars, up to 16' in length are routinely carburized, nitrided, or hardened
vertically for low distortion. Metlab can harden and temper close
dimensional tolerance shafts and other flat components using press
quenching and straightening techniques.

Materials
processed include all ferrous alloys, tool steels, aluminum
alloys, copper alloys, nickel and cobalt base superalloys, stainless
steels, titanium alloys and other metal systems. Metlab has a fully
equipped laboratory on site for providing process certifications and
metallurgical consultation.
